I wanted a way to share my love of books (especially chick books, no matter how fluffy) with whoever wants to listen..I know a lot of you are bookworms like me and I thought it would be a really fun way to feature books/authors and maybe open up discussion...maybe even a forum to trade books you've read with each other...whaddya think...??

For me, books have been an escape from the everyday my whole life..I honestly don't know how I would have made it through middle school without them...

ANYWAY...

I'm hoping to get it up and going in the next couple weeks!

I've had this canvas waiting patiently for me to decide to do something with it forever! If you're like me, you have a closet full of projects on your to do list...or rather, want to do list, but somehow it seems that I always end up going in a different direction...it never seems to stop me from buying more crap to add to my list though ;-)

anyway

Rob has to go TDY next week to San Antonio, which is also where his family is, so I wanted to make something for him to give to his Dad and his wife. Now that it came together so easily, I think there will be quite a few more of these in my future.

It's also Mojo Monday today and I had time to put a card together based on this week's sketch. I am so loving this blog!

Is it me, or do you think maybe they watch a little too much Monday Night Football?

Anyway...

The Art and Science Fair went really well

all of the kids did an awesome job!

I am really starting to enjoy homeschooling, it gives me a sense of presence in their lives that I didn't have before.

I think this picture is hilarious because Landon is eating one of his own cupcakes, and one of Britain's cookies is on his plate...because a certain "mean mom"

LOL

wouldn't let them enjoy the fruits of their labor until we got there

Britain wanted to make sure we had a picture of the fact that his cookies disappeared before Landon's cupcakes.

Something about "photographic proof for the sake of the future generations"

I swear he's a 30 year old in a 13 year olds' body.

We went to Mt Vernon on Saturday...

I had this plan...

I have a picture of Britain's hand on the bannister of Abraham Lincoln's house in Springfield, IL

It's the only thing in the house that you're allowed to touch that was also touched by Abraham Lincoln...and I want to point out here...you ARE ALLOWED to take pictures in Abe's house...

ok so...

I had this plan

I wanted to get a picture of Landon's hand on the bannister at George Washington's house...

So

all day we're taking pictures (which are allowed) but then we get to the house

and ok there's a crowd of like 75 people or more and you just kind of mill in on an every 30 minute basis...but it basically just constantly revolved

so somehow we all missed the

"No photos allowed in the house briefing"

I only wanted a picture of the bannister

So, coming up the steps I position my shot

and CRAZY TOUR GUIDE MAN

grabs me by the arm and yells at me in the middle of this crowd of people

"We don't take pictures in here!!"

I apologize profusely...and say I didn't know

He says

"I don't belive you!!

you need to put your camera away or we'll have to remove it from you"

A little bewildered...and embarassed

I tuck the camera into my purse.

I pull off to the side of the crowd with Landon, waiting for Rob and Britain to catch up.

I kind of peek up and over the bannister to look for them

It's tall and I am short

CRAZY TOUR GUIDE MAN yells at me AGAIN!!

"You can't hang on the bannister Ma'am, Just what do you think you're looking for???"

"um I wasn't sir, I'm waiting for my husband"

"Well we can't have you waiting here you need to move along! You better have that camera put away!!"

I guess I'm lucky he didn't have the cops waiting to take me away...

he made me feel like some kind of criminal.

The crazy thing is that between Rob, me and the boys..none of us remember anyone saying you can't take pictures in the house. It would have been totally fine if someone had just politely pointed it out, or maybe let us know anywhere along the way.

Besides CRAZY TOUR GUIDE MAN we had a nice day.

I think they should give the tour guide jobs to NEXTEL, like in the commercials.

I bet they'd be a lot nicer.

It's a Six Chick EASTER!!!

We're Celebrating Easter from now until EASTER

at Limelight!!

With each and every order (regardless of amount) through Easter Sunday, Limelight will be sending out a plastic Easter egg filled with goodies!

and Dark Chocolate Covered Cranberries

I popped it all in one of those $1 tin pails from the dollar store

I have to confess, I'm glad this challenge is over because now tonight I can Veg out on the couch with a glass of wine, some chocolate and my new Somerset Memories Magazine...shhhhhhh....

I want to take two minutes to tell you if you have access to HBO on Demand, I hope you will take the time to watch "Taking Chance" with Kevin Bacon. It is an extremely well done movie about how America pays respects to our fallen heroes. No matter what your politics are, it's a very accurate look at what happens each and every time we lose someone who has served.
