Mother's Day Mini Album...

Just wanted to do a quick post to tell you about a class at THE SBF..

On May 1st I'll be teaching this Mother's Day Mini Album. The album is actually half chipboard, and half acrylic which in the words of my 12 year old is "totally boss"...which is a good thing...

I am feeling better every day...can't seem to shake this wonderful "hack" though...that's what it sounds like when I cough..."hack hack hack"...I sound like I've been smoking for 20 years...and I soooo don't smoke

I'm sorry I haven't been around to check up on everyone lately, but will try to do that in the next day or two! I haven't recieved anymore ATC's in the last few days...I hope yours didn't fall off the boat on it's way from Poland, Kylie!!! The rest of you...GET TO WORK...LOL :-) ...that was for me too...

so here's a little picture from my birthday which was last Thursday...guess I'll have to change my profile now...:-)

We went to Bandana's...love their BBQ chicken nachos....mmmmmm

They give you a bouquet of tootsie roll pops instead of cake....I'm not complaining ..Love me some toosie roll pops...especially these little baby ones! and just so you know...I have fixed my roots....and I am well aware that I need a few trips to Hollywood Tan...

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Not Dead yet....

Just a quick post to let you know...I'm not dead...
Sorry to worry anyone, I have had a bad go of it healthwise lately...
This viral, sinus nasty stuff I've not been able to shake has decided to turn into Pneumonia...and it has really knocked me on my ass
The ATC Swap is still on, so I hope no one was panicking
I've recieved cards from Rita, Lisa, Kathryn and Pat and they are so awesome!!
...so the rest of you out there I can't wait to see yours! I'm about halfway on mine..
I have been working at the store, and have a new nursing job I haven't started yet and right now am not sure exactly when I will be....but that's why I haven't been on here..
I literally get out of breath just walking up the steps...
Hopefully this new, (and my third) round of antibiotics in 5 weeks, will actually work...so I'm getting there..and I hope to be "here" much more very soon...
Thank you so much for thinking of me and for keeping me in your prayers!

Wishful Scrapping

I've been trying to "wishful scrap" warm weather into existence....
.I did this project and tried submitting it for publication at the beginning of March...but it didn't get picked up...which means I get to share it with you all....

This clear box started out as a container for a rubber stamp set I bought at that craft store with a man's name on clearance for like $3...they had bunches of them...anyway after I took the stamps out I thought...I could so do something fun with this box...and I found some acetate sheets I had in my stash to use for the pages...some very fun summery Doodlebug Color Coordinates, and some fun ribbon...oh and some bazzill cardstock...

kind of hard to see "clear" in pictures but the pages of the minialbum are acetate with Doodlebug pattern paper and Bazzill cardstock mounted on it...

Once I got the idea out of my head, this project went together really fast as the acetate was already cut to a standard card size and fit inside the box perfectly, the Doodlebug collection was already coordinated so all I had to do was pick out matching cardstock and ribbon.

I'm off to work...if you have bored boys, of the large or small variety.. Spike TV has been doing this Star Wars marathon since last weekend playing all the movies, the makings of etc...mine have been glued to it...which makes little sense since we own all of these movies and various acouterments....

but who can solve the mystery of boys...? But all of this Star Wars marathoning has sparked a certain amount of controversy and conversation in our house and it is a question that I'm sure has been asked before....

Who was "the chosen one" the one to bring balance to "the force" told by the prophecy...was it Darth Vader/Annakin or was it Luke Skywalker?....

Our house is in a split decision on this subject...what do you think?

That's it for now, Thanks for stopping by and have a great night..I'll be stopping by to "read" everyone later..

Why is it so hard....

For me to get to the post office?....it seems a completely harmless place, and mostly good things happen there, however I can drive around with mail in my car for a week or two before something finally makes it on it's way to it's destination...

I finally got my ATC's (the Heidi Swapp ones) and my tags (for the fiskateer swap) in the mail today...neither one is late, I finished them both more than a week ago and then drove them around in my car until today when I finally made it to the post office...I promise not to do this with the ATC swap that I am hosting...

I am getting better...think I've downgraded to a cold or seasonal allergies at this point...still have a nasty cough, but I'm getting there...thanks so much everyone for checking up on me and leaving me such nice messages!

I've been pretty busy working and working on finding another nursing job, I'm supposed to go talk to someone tomorrow, so we'll see..

I only got a couple things done at the CKC crop, I ended up just doing the daytime one and leaving the night one shortly after it started..

I made this Clear Scraps Mickey Album for a class I'm planning to teach in May..probably May 10th

Don't you want to sign up?

and I finally got this album done from an online class I purchased from Heart in Hand Scraps a month or two ago...if you haven't been there, they have really awesome and very reasonably priced classes...

I'm going to fill it with pictures for my Mom for Mother's Day and I think I'll probably make several more, for Mother's Day gifts as well...

and today after work, I got this done...This was Ann's idea (SBF owner) she had a class idea to string cookie cutters together and use them as a door hanger so she gave the cookie cutter set to me to see what I could come up with...I don't think the picture does it enough justice, and I think I need to tie some Rafia in between , but I think it turned out pretty cute... the outside of the cookie cutters are altered as well, but you can't see it either...guess I need to sharpen my photography skills..

and that's all I have for tonight...I really have to go make rounds now and see what you have all been up to.

Ricetta Weds...oops I mean Thursday...sorry

I actually did get this done last night, and once again something small and not very difficult wore my a@@ out so I went to bed forgetting all about my post...maybe one of you should call the CDC for me...I think this freakshow body of mine has created some kind of new super strain...

Anyway...

here is Ricetta #8 it's a two pager, figured I owed you at least that for being the world's biggest slacker lately..
and here is my layout, this is almost entirely CTMH paper and cardstock, stamps, brads etc, except for the wave paper that's Karen Foster.I know it's all slanty...I seem incapable of taking a picture lately that isn't....
Before I forget, if you haven't subscribed yet the first issue of OHScrap is out! Debby and all the contributors did a really awesome job. For those of you not familiar this is an online newsletter/blog put together by some Fiskateers. If you go get it, you'll probably see some familiar names...err ahem...like mine... LOL (shameless plug) I'm the sketch coordinator...anyway... please go sign up if you haven't! They are looking for contributors all the time!

We actually had some sun yesterday...it's still pretty cool out, but I'll take it just about anyway I can get it at this point....here are some picture of the boys ...

A week or two ago, Rob bought Britain one of those lucky bamboo plants, and that was all it took, my son is suddenly a botanist....the next day he used his own money to buy and Aloe plant, a cactus and something I can't pronounce, (I am a "plant murderer" according to my family so I'm not allowed near the plants) He's been busy looking up his plants on the internet, he even froze a leaf from one because he wants to compare it to itself in several weeks..and he's busy making little miniture container gardens ...when something sparks this kids interest he is all over it.....

and so Landon not to be outdone, and feeling a
little put out and left out by the fact that Britain
would rather play with his plants than him,
asked his Dad for his own plant and so here you go

Both plants are very happy in their new home...

That might not be all I have to share with you today, but it is definitely all I have to share with you right now...
Thanks so much for stopping by...and I...will..get...around..to ...blog..hopping...sometime today....

On the "bad girl" list...

I have been such a bad blogger.....I have just had a time getting rid of this crap and it's still lingering....and it's left me so...well ...depleted...I guess is the best word for it... I start to feel better, go about doing regular "stuff" then need to take a nap because I'm exhausted...but enough of that....I try to keep this a happy place...:-)

I actually got a little creating going today and it make me feel good...it feels like it's been forever since I made anything...
I did these cards for a class I'm going to teach in May.. I wanted them to be nice, but also kind of simple so they would work for the class...

These are made with Heidi Grace patterned paper, Worldwinn Cardstock, and Hero Arts stamps...

A 2 page layout...haven't actually done a layout in forever I've been so busy with swaps and class stuff..

I used Bazzill Cardstock, Pattern Paper by CTMH, and Dreamstreet and Lace Cardstock by KI Memories...Title is "Starstruck"

and I got my cards done for the Deck of Me challenge..so I am all caught up!

week 13 was "what makes you laugh everyday?"

week 14 is "is your glass half empty or half full?"

This weekend is CKC St Louis, and I've really been looking forward to it. I'll be helping out at the SBF's booth, but I also have an entire day of cropping on Saturday with friends which I booked back in January. So, needless to say, things have been pretty busy at the store..but I LOVE IT...it's like Christmas everyday...all these boxes of wonderful things coming in to play with...unfortunately with the loss of my primary income though, it's also torture because I can't afford to buy it all...LOL...but I've got some prospects out there so keep your fingers crossed for me and we'll see.

The "girls" at the SBF have all been so nice and wonderful to me, and I'm enjoying working with them so much, you can really tell everyone there really loves this hobby and wants to be there...it's pretty refreshing....and I'll be there tomorrow working and helping to load up for the show...so if I can I'll get some pics posted tomorrow.

Anyway, thanks everyone so much for the well wishes and for checking in on me....fingers crossed, I'll be here tomorrow with a new Ricetta...

Gratitudes:

1. I think I actually saw the sun for a minute or two today

2. Our grass is starting to grow

3. Britain has taken this interest in plants lately, I'll have to show some pics of his mini greenhouse

4. Landon snuggles
