Ricetta Weds...oops I mean Thursday...sorry

I actually did get this done last night, and once again something small and not very difficult wore my a@@ out so I went to bed forgetting all about my post...maybe one of you should call the CDC for me...I think this freakshow body of mine has created some kind of new super strain...

Anyway...

here is Ricetta #8 it's a two pager, figured I owed you at least that for being the world's biggest slacker lately..
and here is my layout, this is almost entirely CTMH paper and cardstock, stamps, brads etc, except for the wave paper that's Karen Foster.I know it's all slanty...I seem incapable of taking a picture lately that isn't....
Before I forget, if you haven't subscribed yet the first issue of OHScrap is out! Debby and all the contributors did a really awesome job. For those of you not familiar this is an online newsletter/blog put together by some Fiskateers. If you go get it, you'll probably see some familiar names...err ahem...like mine... LOL (shameless plug) I'm the sketch coordinator...anyway... please go sign up if you haven't! They are looking for contributors all the time!

We actually had some sun yesterday...it's still pretty cool out, but I'll take it just about anyway I can get it at this point....here are some picture of the boys ...

A week or two ago, Rob bought Britain one of those lucky bamboo plants, and that was all it took, my son is suddenly a botanist....the next day he used his own money to buy and Aloe plant, a cactus and something I can't pronounce, (I am a "plant murderer" according to my family so I'm not allowed near the plants) He's been busy looking up his plants on the internet, he even froze a leaf from one because he wants to compare it to itself in several weeks..and he's busy making little miniture container gardens ...when something sparks this kids interest he is all over it.....

and so Landon not to be outdone, and feeling a
little put out and left out by the fact that Britain
would rather play with his plants than him,
asked his Dad for his own plant and so here you go

Both plants are very happy in their new home...

That might not be all I have to share with you today, but it is definitely all I have to share with you right now...
Thanks so much for stopping by...and I...will..get...around..to ...blog..hopping...sometime today....

Betcha thought I forgot...

For mine I used WorldWinn Cardstock, Pattern Paper by Bo Bunny, stickers by Carol Lee's Adorn it, and Die Cut sheets by Paper Reflections....
About the ATC..I've gotten quite a few questions so will try to answer them...
1.what is an ATC? ATC stands for Artist Trading Card..some of you asking are in the Deck of Me Challenge it's the same amount of space 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 you can use a card as your base, just cut cardstock down, or buy blank ones to use...the point is just to make some little bit of artsy goodness share with a friend.

2. Is there a prompt or theme...?no...I want you do do whatever you are inspired to do with these tiny little canvases..if you want to make your own theme for all your cards that's fine too..
here are some links for inspiration...
http://photobucket.com/images/artist%2520trading%2520cards/
http://www.flickr.com/groups/95067770@N00/pool/

3.Are there rules? I have only one, okay maybe two...1. please if you say you're going to do it, follow through 2. I am asking everyone to put their information somewhere on the card (ie name, address, ssn, blood type, favorite brand of underwear...the usual) JUST KIDDING...really...but I would like you to have your name, email, blog address, and physical address if you want to share...point of this is that I'm making an artadex (rolodex of art..look at me I made a new word!) and so are you!!! If you want to put a photo of yourself on it..whatever you want to do...
4."oh my gosh , I'm so flippin' busy when the crap am I supposed to have these done by? April 30th sound ok? that's about 6 weeks..if not let me know and I can push it back farther...

If I have not emailed you, it is because I don't have your email address....email addresses don't come through on your comments unless you enable this on blogger...I need email addresses so I can send you my physical address so you can send the cards to me. Except for you PAT, you can just walk next door..LOL.. I'm asking that you send me your cards with a self addressed stamped envelope (with the same amount of postage that it took to get your cards to me) This is pretty standard for all swaps. Right now we have 13 participants, if I missed you please let me know.
here are our participants...
me
Casii
Robin
Deanna
Judy
Lisa
Kathryn
Christi
Kylie
Lesli
Pat (coolest neighbor ever)
Carolyn (yes I've sucked you in..)
Dianna (you can run but you can not hide)

the few others that had questions and hadn't commited yet, please just let me know...and if I accidentally left you off the list please let me know...I'm going to close sign ups on Friday so we can get going. Sound good?! I'm so excited to see what you all do with these!

I woke up today and realized I will be 34 in a little less than a month...and not to sound repetitive but really, when did that happen?...obviously somewhere around the time the girls started searching for my armpits whenever I lay down...and I ask you..what the hell is up with this hair that has decided to take up residence on my upper lip?

Thanks so much for stopping by! I have some serious blog reading/catching up to do...will try to get that going tonight...

It's Ricetta Wednesday!!!

Ricetta #2

and here is my layout based on this Ricetta
I hope this inspired you in some way and if it does, please leave me a comment with a link and I'll post it here next Wednesday with the new Ricetta.
Ricetta #1:
Thanks for playing Robin could you email me your address again for a little scrappy love....
I also wanted to make a Thank you gift for my friend at work who sold me the new table/chair/hutch set because she gave me such an amazing deal, plus she even delivered it to my house while I was working....so I made her this...
She just moved so I thought it would be a nice housewarming gift plus it matches the table she got from another one of our co-workers...I have no idea why the photo looks kind of fuzzy but it was this or a glare from the glass...I had been wanting to try framed art like this and I'm really happy with how it turned out..you might be too if the photo wasn't fuzzy...
I also have a couple photos for Dianna...

This would be a 14 year old me...braces, bad perm and all...and holy caterpillars on your forehead...look at those eyebrows

and these
So...I pick up Landon from school today and on the way to get Britain (some of our most interesting conversations happen between the elementary and middle school...it's only about 2 minutes but you'd be surprised the amount of information that can be shared in such a small amount of time)
Landon: "Mom, today in class we were learning about animals, you know mammals and invertabraes and stuff"
Me: "mmm-hmmm"
Landon: "Well this girl raised her hand and asked how the mammal moms got milk for the babies"
Me:wondering where in the world this is going "yeah..."
Landon: "and Mrs H. said that the mom's bodies make the milk...and the girl said that when she was a baby her mom made the milk and she got it off her moms boobs" looking horrified
Right about now I'm picturing poor Mrs H and her class of 23 3rd graders...
Me: trying very hard to suppress a laugh "yes, that's right some babies get the milk from a store and some moms feed their babies with their breasts just like you see animal moms do"
Landon: "MOM Please tell me you DID NOT MILK ME with YOUR BOOBS!"
Me: Laughing out Loud now..."It's a perfectly natural thing to do, but no I didn't nurse you, that's what it's called "nursing"...probably a lot of your friends moms nursed them, Aunt Susie nursed your cousins it's just what some moms choose to do...neither way is right or wrong...understand....?"
Landon: looking very relieved but very confused "ok I guess, but when you "nurse" at work are you milking people? and did you milk, I mean nurse Britain?"
Me: getting out the shovel..." No, I, um...ok what I do at work is a completely different kind of nursing...like taking care of people who are sick, giving them medicine and stuff..."
Landon: "yeah, yeah I thought so ok so what about Britain?"
Me: "Well, I did start out nursing Britain but only for about a week, then I bought the milk from the store"
By this time we're pulling up to the Middle School and Britain is coming up to the car and getting in...
Landon: looking very happy with himself and very mischevious..."Brit, Hey Brit guess what?? you aren't going to believe this.." shaking his head
Britain: clueless as to all that has previously transpired kind of looks around .."huh?"
Landon:" When you were a baby..."starts laughing hysterically "when you were a baby...oh my gosh I can't believe I'm saying this....Mom used to feed you with her...her ...BOOBS!!!!" hunches over laughing...
Britain: obviously matured in his 12 years is not phased at all..."So, um, Mom ...what are we having for dinner?"
Gratititude:
1. crockpot dinner
2. day off work to create
3. talked to my nephew today
4. got the boys homework done early
5. I rented "No Reservations" and look forward to an early night with family movie
Thanks for stopping by!

Giant Steps are what you take...

walking on the moon...

if I how to put music on here, then you'd be hearing The Police right now, but as it is you'll have to imagine it in your head...if Carolyn or Dianna want to help me out in this department please feel free....so

who wants to walk with me?

I should have said "walk around the world" so I apologize to my international friends for my narrowmindedness...
My plan is to start on Monday, I'm hoping that by then it won't be quite as soggy as it has been here the past few days because I do not have a treadmill . I know some of you have already started..Good for you! Kylie's walking "virtually" to Lisbon and will then get rewarded with an actual trip to Lisbon!! This is totally no stress, I just want us to be able to motivate each other to move, I definitely need the extra help, I'd much rather read or play with paper than go for a walk...so I hope you'll check back here and comment when you walk how far you went and by the weekend I'm going to add a walklist over to the right of your links (if you wish to be included please leave me a comment with your link) and it's as easy as that. So fire up those MP3 players and get your walking shoes ready! Set a goal which includes some incentive at the end...Mine is 20 lbs by the end of May and I get Scrapbook Money to spend! So I haven't set a mile goal yet, at first I think I just want to see if I can actually get out the door. Feel free to share pictures of your walking adventures as well, and let anyone know who might want to join to come on by and join us...!!! LET's GO!!

I also have a Ricetta (Italian word for recipe, because everyone says "sketch" and I wanted a cute name, so it's basically a sketch) for you. If you want to play, create a layout inspired by this Ricetta and link me in the comments. Next Wednesday, I will display everyone's pages with a new Ricetta!

so here is Ricetta #1 designed by me...and I don't know how to do it up in a program the way I've seen on a lot of other blogs if someone wants to tell me how that works I'd love to be schooled...Thanks!

and here is my take on it

I hope this inspires you to play!!
I used Bazzill Bling Cardstock
Lace Cardstock by KI Memories
buttons from Rhonna Farrer
Letter stickers by Heidi Grace
I'm trying to be better about doing a supply list

I also completed this layout for the FiskarsCrafts sketch for February

Bazzill Cardstock, CTMH
Pattern Paper Making Memories, CTMH
Chipboard letters are WE R Memory Keepers
I think Thursday is going to be Meme day, and on Friday there will be a project challenge up...at least that's my story and I'm stickin to it...
Today I am grateful for
1. being off work
2. Kids had early release
3. got some scrapping done
4. got some laundry done
5.after tomorrow I have a 4 day weekend! I hope to spend some time at the Fiskars online crop so whoever is going hope to see you there!
