Countdown to Valentine's Day Project #1

Welcome and Happy Monday everyone, in case this is your first time here, I'm Amy, a working mom to 2 boys who enjoys coffee and scrapbooking. I've been visiting Lain's blog for a while and participating in her challenges. So when she got so busy with LOAD over at BPS I offered to host/sponsor her Monday countdown projects. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting it together. If you complete a project inspired by this one, in even the smallest tiniest way, link to it in my comments and on Sunday I will do a random drawing for someone to recieve some scrappy goodness from me!

I am all about spreading some love this Valentine's Day. I want to send cards like you do for christmas, give gifts and have some Lovey Fun!

Here goes:

Too Cute For Words (TCFW) Hot Tamale Bottle of Love

What you need:

1. glass bottle left over from the beverage of your choice

I used a bottle of Honest Tea

2. Hot Tamales or your candy of choice

3. Scraps in some Valentiney colors (enough to fit around your bottle) I used Fancy Pants Patterned paper and Cardstock by CTMH

4. Adhesive- I used my Xyron Cheetah

5.Ribbon - I used odds and ends from my stash

6. Paper Trimmer

7. Metal Rimmed Tag

8. Circle Punch

9. Stamps - I used Image Tree by Ek Success and CTMH Sweet Love my Acrylix
Ready, set, go
1. First clean out and remove label from your glass bottle. If the label leaves that sticky stuff behind, you could spend a day or two trying to scrub it off like I did. OR you could just leave it there because your going to cover it up anyway.

2. Once the inside is dry, all the way dry, trust me on this one add your candy.

ok I know if you look close you'll see that there are Now and Laters in there too, that's because I misjudged the amount of Hot Tamales it would take to fill the bottle. It's hard, I know, but Please try not to let this bother your perfectionist nature.

3. Measure your pattern paper around the bottle, I didn't use a ruler, I can never seem to get it perfect, I just let my edges overlap a little in the back. Trim to your Desire

4. Do the same with your cardstock cutting the width by about an inch so the pattern paper shows behind it.

5. Use your adhesive to stick your cardstock to the pattern paper. This is your label.

6. Use your circle punch to punch a circle to cover the label on the lid. I did one small and one large so I could mat it to match the label. Then use adhesive to stick it on. I also punched a circle to put on the metal rimmed tag. You can do this too or you can just stamp on your tag or you don't have to use a tag.

7. Stamp your message onto the cardstock. I just kind of eyeballed where the center would be and went to it. I stamped "You are one Hot Tamale" and I also stamped little hearts randomly on the cardstock. I also used 3 rub on hearts I had in my stash I think they are DCWV, but I've had them so long I can't remember.

8. Take a coffee break to admire what you've accomplished so far...Your almost there!

9. Put adhesive all over the back of your pattern paper/cardstock combo and stick to the bottle. I stuck the middle first, and then smoothed the side out.

10. Stamp on your tag, or write or whatever makes you happy. I stamped on the punched circle "just for you" and then tied red, white and pink ribbon around the top and let it hang there all cute.

PRESTO!!! You're done!

Hope you liked it! Take care and have a great day!

That's really cute. I'm not a crafty person but this is something I think I could do. A friend of mine is giving me a bunch of stamps from her aunt that passed away. I didn't even know what to do with the stamps! I think my favorite part of the project is the coffee break!

But now I have to stop because it looks like I have a project to do...:)

Too cute! I love not so famous scrappers-way less intimidating and just as talented. That's one of the great things about Lain-she's so down to earth and you are too.

Cute project Amy! I also just seen you saw I did the random 7 things about me on my blog. I just love your blog, I am finding some very interesting things on it, and love reading what you post. I love doing 52 card challenges, and I want to do the one you have posted by Dianna. I don't know her, but I hope she won't mind if I follow her prompts. I was trying to do the BPS "lain" challenge, but a layout a day is just too much for me. I could do a ATC card a day, but not a layout. My layouts take time, and during the week that is one thing I don't have much of. I wish you lots of luck with the challenge, and hopefully you will get a layout chosen, wait lets shoot for the grand prize, doesn't that sound better. hee hee

I thought of a variation of this for my husband. He can't have sweets so I am going to get a jar of nuts. Then I am going to put on it "I am just nuts about you!!!" or something to that effect.

I finally found the time to do this challenge. I used a jar that apricot preserves came in and some scrap paper along with extra stickers and ribbon. Here's a link to my photo: http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k24/lisamace2001/Monday1.jpg

Hi! I'm absolutely new to Scrapbooking and signed up for the Get a Load challenge. I wonder if I can join here? I really don't know how it works or what I'd have to do... can you please help me? Loved the idea and what you did with the bottle. TFS!
